Egg freezing

It’s been 30 years now from the first human baby from frozen egg cells. They can freeze eggs in their 20’sand later, when they feel ready to have a family, those eggs can be thawed and fertilized. The most positive fact with egg freezing is that the woman remains genetic parent.

However, we should keep in mind that this is a unique case of a live birth at the age of 46 after IVF using egg cells that were cryopreserved 3 years earlier.The prognosis for a live birth from IVF in a patient with very advanced reproductive age remains poor and this case should be interpreted with caution so as to not provide false hope to women aged 35 and above.
